I have finally reached the point in my life where I realize the value in investing in my wardrobe. After donating or tossing countless pieces clothing that didn’t hold up fashionably or…literally, I realized that it’s much better to save up for something that is going to last for years rather than buy a cheaper piece immediately. Plus, I have this dream of loving everything in my closet – it would be like going shopping every morning!
For me, choosing the right clothing or accessories comes from careful planning, and consistent sale-watching (does anyone else hate to pay full-price for…anything?). I keep two small Pinterest boards just for this: a seasonal board, and a board with the pieces I own.
Here’s what I’m eyeing this season:
- Madewell The Archive Boot: While I don’t need another pair of boots, black riding boots would round out my boot collection. I might try to snag these at an end-of-season sale. Tip: my friend bought these (hi, Melissa!), and after reading reviews, she went with the extended calf – they are narrow boots to begin with, and she recommended the extended if you plan on wearing with skinny jeans – even if you have slim calves.
- Madewell Leather Belt: Yes, 3/5 of these items are Madewell. I love their fit and quality…and as an aside, their skinny skinny jeans are the BEST. I have been eyeing this belt for a couple months and really need to bite the bullet and purchase it!
- Kate Spade Charles Street Kensington: I’ve had the perfect (for me) purse in mind for months, just waiting for it to materialize, and this is it. At $450 ($338 if Kate Spade has one of their fantastic 25% off sales), it’s an obvious investment piece. I’ll start pinching my pennies now…
- J Crew Classic Link Bracelet: J Crew and their 40% off sale sales is a great place for classic, investment pieces. This bracelet is not currently on sale (and I couldn’t find a similar piece on my usual go-to, BaubleBar), but it’s one worth keeping an eye on, as it would compliment a variety of outfits.
- I purchased this Madewell Chambray Shirt on payday this week. I’ve had it pinned for a while, and they are currently offering 40% off sale items with code COZYUP – which brings the price of this shirt from $69.50 to $38.70. What a steal!
What wardrobe pieces are you planning on purchasing this year?
